Children's Hospital & Clinics of MInnesota
We know that children are not small adults. Because they have different emotional and physiological needs, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota provides health care services and an environment that are designed to support the needs of children and their families. This philosophy is shared by more than 3,700 doctors, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, laboratory technicians, radiologists, and staff at Children's.
Children’s Hospitals and Clinics is a not-for-profit, comprehensive health care provider serving the diverse needs of children from infancy through adolescence. Children¹s has been caring for Minnesota¹s children since 1924. With 332 staffed hospital beds at hospitals in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and services available in all major pediatric specialties, Children¹s is the largest pediatric health care organization in the upper Midwest and among the largest in the U.S.
Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota has one of the largest pediatric pain and palliative care programs in North America, providing care for children at home, in the hospital and in clinics.
Relieving the pain and suffering of a child is crucial for the patient and the entire family. Our pain and palliative team is devoted to improving the quality of life for children who come to us. Our program utilizes a combination of state-of-the-art pharmacology, physical therapy, and integrative therapies such as massage, hypnosis, and acupuncture.
We believe children have the right to the best level of pain relief and symptom management that can be safely provided. Therefore, we take an interdisciplinary team approach to pain and symptom management, using drug and non-drug therapies.
Some diseases and conditions cannot be cured. But there is always something more we can do. When needed ,palliative care can include hospice care. Hospice care focuses on living fully and comfortably when aggressive therapies are no longer helpful. Our hospice program is the only licensed hospice in the state of Minnesota that focuses solely on children.
Most importantly, Children's Hospitals and Clinics cares for the whole family, not only the patient. It is in our mission to champion the special health needs of children and their families. We are committed to improving children's health by providing high-quality, family-centered pediatric services. We advance these efforts through research and education. At Children's Hospitals and Clinics, we deliver next generation care.
